My background spans diverse veterinary settings, including animal welfare organisations, which informs my approach to feline handling and grooming. Part 2: Handling & Low-Stress Approach I employ low-stress handling techniques and specialised equipment to minimise anxiety. My preferred method involves working at floor level, with the cat positioned on my lap or between my legs. Owners are welcome to observe the session provided it does not increase the cat's stress. My practice is guided by a commitment to patient, incremental care. I work within each cat's tolerance, incorporating regular breaks; some cats may require multiple short sessions to acclimate, assessed on a case-by-case basis. Part 3: Techniques & Special Needs I utilise pheromone sprays to promote relaxation and employ positive reinforcement—including treats—to encourage cooperation. I apply a range of techniques and safety equipment to protect both the cat and myself. I am confident in managing and grooming most cats, including senior patients, those with medical conditions or behavioural issues, and cats requiring in-home sedation. I can monitor cats receiving Gabapentin—prescribed by your veterinarian—to ensure their wellbeing and maintain low stress levels throughout the procedure. Part 4: Service Environment & Consultations As a mobile service, I provide my own table and equipment, although I predominantly work on the floor. For home visits, I require a small room with a secure door and access to a power point. If bathing is required, access to warm water is necessary (though full drying depends on the individual cat's tolerance). Beyond grooming, I offer guidance on preventative health, advise when veterinary consultation is warranted, recommend environmental enrichment, and discuss grooming and behavioural requirements. I am currently undertaking further studies in feline behaviour. Part 5: Pricing & Service Area My pricing reflects the time, patience, and skill required for specialist cat grooming, particularly for special-needs pets. Fees account for my professional qualifications, experience, mobile service delivery, vehicle and travel costs, administration, equipment maintenance, and ongoing education.
